First Graders Analyze Fiction

Our 1st grade students  are learning to analyze fiction. They are identifying characters, the problems those characters face, and how those problems are resolved. What is the story’s big idea? What lessons did the characters learn that perhaps the writer wants readers to learn? In Ms. Banna and Ms. Quall’s class last week, the shepherd boy in  “Jack and the Wolf” learned an important lesson about lying. This week, our scholars are reading “A Musical Day” and will be sharing with their classmates how music is part of their lives.
