Today, we challenged our third-graders with beginning-of-the-year assessments. The math section included questions our scholars learned to solve in second grade, such as the place value of digits, as well as some higher-level problems. In Ms. Henry and Ms. Brisby’s class, we saw Samira solving several questions requiring algebra! Later, we saw her pay close attention as Ms. Henry reinforced rules for multiplication and problem solving. Samira joined Community Partnership Charter School as a second-grader. Now in third grade, she will take part in state testing for math and English language arts for the first time. “I feel good about myself,” Samira said. “I feel good that I’m learning new strategies and I just feel good about the state test.”
