BwC Newsletter Winter 2020

- Corporate Partner Spotlight -

Beginning with Children is fortunate to have a longstanding partnership with Barclays Bank. Barclays employees have participated in our mentoring program, volunteered at our schools, and even raised money for BwC by riding a Citibike for 24 hours!

Most recently, Barclays hosted a dedicated group of Legacy Network college students for a week-long series of workshops at their offices in New York City focused on professional and personal skill development. In addition to a career panel with employees from a variety of departments, students learned about personal finance and budgeting, participated in mock job interviews, and started building social capital with speed networking.

The sessions covered real-life skills like interest and how credit cards work. Those things aren't taught in college, even as a finance major.

Our students and the Barclays volunteers found the week engaging and enriching. The value of these experiences goes far beyond this one-week experience. Through our many programs like this as well as our Legacy Leaders Summer Internship Program, the Legacy Network helps students become more informed and prepared to enter the workforce.
